Large quantities of unlicensed medications have actually been taken by Department of Health authorities throughout a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was interviewed by department officers about unlawfully importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines through the web.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medication offenses.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general Service.

The search was carried out by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement workplace, Peter Moore, said: "It is important that we get the message across that unlicensed medicines can be harmful.

"These kinds of products being sold, normally online, have actually undergone no quality assurance and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You simply do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More importantly, you do not understand the effect drugs like this may have on your health."
